Iowa State University
Iowa State University (ISU), established in 1858, is located in Ames, Iowa, and classified as an R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity by the Carnegie Foundation. The university has world-class programs in biology, agriculture, mechanical engineering, and physics, and its design and business schools are among the best in the nation. ISU ranks 63rd in the US and 167th globally in the 2021 CWUR World University Rankings.
 
ISU has produced two Nobel laureates and notable alumni, including former US Vice President Henry A. Wallace and Lockheed Martin Chairman Vince D. Coffman. The university is the birthplace of the first computer, the Atanasoff-Berry Computer, and co-manages the Ames Laboratory, which participated in the Manhattan Project during World War II.
 
ISU has 8 colleges offering over 200 programs, with about 33,000 students. The campus covers 1,984 acres, with nationally ranked programs in biological and agricultural engineering, architecture, and landscape architecture. Its veterinary and statistics programs are also top-ranked. The business school ranks 50th in the 2022 US News Best Business Schools list.
